Child Dreams and Adult Promises - Chap. 2

Chapter 2 - First Meetings:

Prince Loki was already at the meeting place, waiting outside the building. He was not alone for beside him was the Queen, his mother Frigg, waiting for the other student to come so that they can enter the building together. The young prince was getting a bit antsy, wanting to go in and start his training. Frigg watched her son and just smiled, knowing that young boys can be impatient about things they were excited for. She had to do the same with Thor when he started his training to become a warrior.

Over the clearing, Frigg saw another pair of figures, one tall and one small, coming towards them and the building. She smiled, knowing that it was the other student and their parent. Frigg cleared her throat to get Loki's attention to have him look forward.
Hevleska and her father were coming into view now, and she could now see who it was she was to be in training with... Prince Loki. Tywin, upon seeing the younger prince and his Queen mother, used the last few seconds to straighten himself and Hevleska up to be more presentable to their majesties. Before long, the parents and children were face to face, the children sizing each other up.

Loki's black eyebrow was raised at Hevleska. He was supposed to study in the refined arts of magic with a girl? The young prince looked up at his mother with a questioning look on his face as she just ignored him and smiled at both Tywin and Hevleska, as Hevleska was sticking her tongue out at the prince.

"Your Grace, Your Majesty." Tywin bowed to Frigg and Loki, a clenched fist across his chest to show respect to the royal family. While doing this, Tywin nudged Hevleska to do a curtsy, much to her disliking but she did as instructed. Frigg just smiled and nodded her head while Loki smirked.

"Tywin, son of Kjell, I am pleased to see you here. It has been years." The Queen said to Tywin.

"Indeed it has Your Grace. I do miss being in the All-Father's Royal Guard. I wish health and prosperity upon you and your house, My Queen." he looked down and saw the young Loki and smiled. Loki just smiled as it was expected for him to do, but when his eyes met Hevleska's, he glared. He didn't want to learn at a girl's pace...

Hevleska just smiled at him, which made it even more infuriating to Loki. While the adults were talking, catching up on their respective lives, Hevleska and Loki's blood boiled with an unknown feeling. Before either child could say anything to each other to break the silent tension, Frigg looked down at her son and saw the glare he gave to the young girl and smacked his shoulder to jolt him into awareness.

"Loki, behave yourself and stop glaring at that little girl. She has done nothing to wrong you."

Loki sighed and looked down at the ground, wishing he was back in his room, looking out of his beloved window. Hevleska giggled at Loki being scolded which made Loki glare at her once more.

Before any more mischief and glaring could be had, the doors of the building opened and a tall, dark clothed man walked out. He was pale and had black hair slicked back and put into a long ponytail. Both children looked upon the man with a mixture of intimidation and fascination. Frigg was the first to speak when she left Loki's side and went to the man.

"Frazeri. Never thought I would be sending my son to you to teach." the Queen said pleasantly to the man. He had a cold, calculating face. He bowed to the Queen and raised to meet her eyes.

"Your son is destined to be one with magic, Your Grace. As is with the young girl..." he looked at both Loki and Hevleska. "They are both destined to be great mages within the Nine Realms."

Loki and Hevleska looked at each other and smirked, knowing that a race to become better than the other was at hand.

Frazeri's gaze did not move from the children as he continued to speak, "In order for them to become great within their studies, they need to learn to work together." This made both children's stomach flip in every direction. Their eyes met and both groaned silently. Not only did they have to learn together but they had to be nice to each other!

One thing they did agree on: This was going to be a long and annoying training season...
